Tulbagh Horse Trails

Vrolikheid Landgoed is home to the renowned Tulbagh Horse Trails.

Join us on a beautiful scenic outride between the orchards and fynbos on our working fruit farm. Enjoy peaches and plums from the trees during summer months and beautiful blossoming trees during winter months. The route provides a picture perfect view of the iconic Tulbagh mountains.

Our rides are safe for all levels of riders. Our horses are special and well trained and each has a unique story and personality. Vrolikheid Landgoed is located within easy reach, 1h30 from Cape Town and 45min from Worcester.

Horse Ride & Cheese and Wine

Book a 1 hour outride paired with a romantic picnic in the orchards. Your guide will take you to your picnic table by horseback and will guide the horses back to the paddocks while leaving you to enjoy your picnic. Take a short stroll back to your cottage after your picnic.

Basket consists of cheese, fruit, pate, crackers, olives, cold meats and a bottle of white wine.

Weight limit of 85kg per person

A certain level of fitness is required as guests will have to walk down to the office from their cabin to meet the horses and then again back to their cabin from the orchards where the picnic will be served. The total walking distance is less than 1km in total.

Guests have the option of enjoying their picnic in the orchards or the comfort of their own home after the outride. Kindly advise which one you prefer.

Long pants and closed shoes are mandatory for the outride.

Please respect our guides and listen to their instructions. Our guides are very experienced riders and our horses are well behaved and used to working with children and novice riders, but not listening to instructions can lead to injury.
